Baby Shower: February 21st

This past Saturday, I was given my first baby shower. The shower was held at my Aunt Deborah's house. My aunts Deborah and Carolyn were the hostesses. We had a great time. The food was amazing. As always, my aunt knows how to throw a great party. It was so much fun. Above are a couple of pictures from the shower. I'll try to post more once I get some others from Randi.

Jordan and I are so thankful to have such wonderful friends and family. Miss Addison got some beautiful things. Many of them are pink, of course. Believe you me, she will not go naked. Thank you all to gave gifts to Addison.

30 Weeks

Yesterday, I had two doctors appointments to see how everything is going with the pregnancy and diabetes.

Jordan went with me to the OB.  The OB measured my belly and I'm right at 30 weeks, right on time.  The due date is still April 30th.  We also got to hear Miss Addison's little heart beat.  Everything checked out great.  Jordan asked her what the likely hood would be for me to go before my due date due to the diabetes.  She said they will try and go full term but nothing over, mostly likely around 39 weeks if possible.  She told us that diabetic babies lungs do not mature as fast, so the longer they can keep her in there without causing a risk of overweight, etc. then they will keep her in there.  Jordan and I are so excited that the pregnancy is going as well as it is.

Then I went to the Endocronologist by myself.  We've been talking a lot via phone since my last appointment, so we didn't make any changes.  I've had to make a few changes in my insulin amounts due to the fact that my body is becoming insulin resistant later in the pregnancy.

We'll go back on March 3rd to see all the doctors (sonogram again, yipee!).

God has truly blessed this pregnancy and had his hand on me the entire time.

Labor & Delivery Tour

Jordan and I just got back about an hour ago from taking our Labor and Delivery Tour at Presby Dallas. This is the only class/session that Jordan was willing to participate in.

I have to say that it was informative and made me a feel a lot more at ease with where I would be taken at different stages during labor. They explained from the time you pull to the hospital to where your post labor room would be. I figured that it might be kind of chaotic in the delivery area, but it was very calm. The tour guide told us that they deliver a little over 400 babies a month at Presby Dallas.

The closer our due date gets the more anxious I am becoming. I'm starting to wonder am I going to be able to have a normal labor or will I have to have a C-section. Jordan keeps telling me that it's out of our hands, and just be patient and all will work out how it's supposed to.

I go to the OB and Endocronologist this Wednesday to see how things are progressing and what the future holds. Since I'm in the third trimester, I'll see how much weight the baby and I have gained over the past 2 weeks since our last visit. I'll definitely give a mini report after we're done.

Doctor Appointments: 27 weeks

If you'll double click on the pictures, it will enlarge them so that you can see her a lot better.

Monday, I had all my doctor appointments.  It's a whirlwind going to 3 appointments in one day, but it helps when your mom is there.  The chairs become very uncomfortable, along with the tables you have to lay on.  I'll try to lay out my day and explain what happened at each one.

9:20a OBGYN: We discussed signs of pre-term labor and what I should do just in case.  She also checked my iron count and found that it was a little low (11.7) and recommended that I start taking iron pills from here on out.  She also checked my cervix and everything is holding up strong and Addison is not planning on coming out any time soon.

10:30a Perinatal: This was the fun part of my day.  The doctor did a 3D sonogram for us.   That's the main reason why my mom came in for my doctor appointments.  I'll try to post pictures of the sonogram at the bottom.  She wasn't very cooperative once again.   This time she decided to put her back to us, so we couldn't get many pictures.  She also had either her feet or hands in her face the majority of the time.  We did however get to sneak a few pictures of her.  She's adorable.  I know I'm bias, but she has the cutest little nose and lips.  We were able to see that she has all of her fingers and toes.   Supposedly, she blinked a few times.  She weighs 2 lbs 6 oz at 27 weeks and 4 days.  All of the organs are working perfectly, so we are so excited about her health.  I could go on and on, but I'm sure you get the point.

1:00p Endocronologist (Diabetes): Before I went in, I knew that my blood sugars were starting to fluctuate a little bit.  I felt like my body was becoming insulin resistent, in the mornings especially.  So when the NP told me that my A1C count had increased to 6.0 from 5.9 I wasn't shocked.  They are still excited about the overall blood sugars and how well everything is going.  We made a few adjustments to the insulin and my morning meal and that was it.  I'm so excited that everything is going well.  I just want to make sure I'm doing my best for Miss Addison.  She deserves nothing but the best.   I think with those few adjustments, we'll be back on track for at least a 5.8 A1C within 2 weeks.

So there was  a day with me on my doctor rounds.  Thanks Mom for hanging out with me for the day.  I hope you enjoyed yourself and learned a little bit.
