Swelling

Well, it's happened.....my feet starting swelling last night.

I thought I would be able to make it through the entire pregnancy much swelling, but it has now come upon me.  I can't complain though, since I don't have much time left.  I'll have to put the salt down and make sure to drink lots of water.  It's a good excuse to wear flip flops.  I feel bad for those women that are pregnant while it's hot.  I can only imagine the swelling then.

35 Weeks

Here's the weekly update on Miss Addison!

I went to the perinatologist yesterday.  They didn't measure her this week, but looked at all of the fluid, position, heart rate, cord blood flow, etc.  Everything is looking really good per the doctor.  Her heart rate was at 131.  She has turned and facing my spine to start getting in position to come out.  I also asked this perinatologist (different from last week), Dr. Rhinheart about an induction date and he stated that it's normally at 39 weeks for diabetic pregnancies.  Dr. Rhineheart is a little bit older and has been doing the sonograms the majority of the time for me, so I'm going to go with his statement compared to Dr. Gore last week.  Therefore, we're looking at around April 23rd if that holds true.  The doc did point out on the sonogram that Addison already has fat, round cheeks.  I wonder where she gets that from.  (her Grandaddy?)

We then moved on to the OB.  She measured my belly and it measured at 34 weeks, which was right as of yesterday.  She said she didn't want to commit to an induction date as of now.  She would like to get further into the pregnancy to see how things are progressing and how Addison is growing.  It had been 3 weeks since I had seen the OB so I was starting to wonder how much weight I had gained, because I'm starting to feel large.  It feels like a big basketball in front of me that runs into everything.  I had only gained 3 lbs as of my last visit, so yipee for that.  That means most of the weight is going to her, which is what is supposed to be going on.  I asked the OB why it feels like someone is scrapping their finger nails on my lower abdomen and she stated that it's just my ligaments stretching and getting ready for labor.  It's amazing the different feelings you get that you never expected and had before.  Life (literally) is full of surprises!

I'll make sure to keep you updated when we go back on April Fools!

34 Weeks

Today I went to see both the endocronologist and perinatologist. It seems like this is becoming the only post that I put up these days, but my life is consumed by doctors appointments.

The endo was pretty much the same. Made a few more adjustments to the insulin, but overall my health and Addison's are looking great.

At the perinatal visit, Addison's heart rate was monitored to make sure it wasn't under any stress. We're free and clear. The doc took all the measurements this time to see how much she's weighing, and she came out to be 5 lbs 4 ounces. Two weeks ago we were at 4 lbs 4 ounces, so she has gained the exact weight that she was supposed to (1/2 lb a week). He did inform us that most likely our OB will be discussing induction at 38 1/2 weeks, due to the fact of the diabetes. Therefore, we may be looking at a due date around the 20th of April. Yipee! I should know more once I meet with the OB next week. I am going to make sure that she understands though that if my cervix has not dialated at all by 38 1/2 weeks, then let's just go ahead and schedule that C-section. (I act like I know what I'm doing here)

With the date being moved up (possibly) my mind starts thinking....what else do I need to do to be prepared for her when she arrives. So with that, I got Jordan to install the car seat in the car, and we played with it a little bit. I'm going to run by the Murphy fire station and get them to check it this weekend just to make sure we have done it correctly.

So thanks again for all the prayers. They seem to definitely be working. We're looking forward to having a healthy baby girl come home and extend our family.

Baby Shower at Work

This afternoon, my work threw me a Baby Shower for Miss Addison.  It was so cute.  Sorry the picture is not that great, but all I had was my camera phone.  There were pink balloons everywhere and a huge cake.  You should have seen it.  It was hilarious to see grown men sitting there watching me open presents.  Some of them actually knew what the items were and expressed how useful they would be.

Everyone chipped in some money and the girls upstairs went and got the gifts, which are awesome!  The got a lot of our big ticket items, so we should be done with all of the big items!  Yipee!  We got a high chair, swing, 2 car seats, wipes, wipe warmer, dishwasher container for the bottles, bath towels, wash cloths, and rubber ducks.

I know I work at a great place, but this is just another instance where I'm reminded of how blessed I am to work with such wonderful people.  Times are tough right now, and I am so grateful to be where I am.

THANK YOU  to everyone!  I know some of you read the blog.

33 Week Doctor Appointment

So today, I went to go see the perinatologist. It's becoming a weekly occurence, so we'll get to see how Miss Addison is doing.

The appointment began with them putting in a room to do a "stress test." Pretty much it consisted of them putting a fetal monitor on my belly and keeping track of her heart rate. After the first five minutes of sitting in the lounge chair, the lady came in there and noticed that she was sound asleep. They needed her awake to do the test, so she used this little device to shake up my belly and get her moving around. Well....it worked.

From that room, we went to get the sonogram done. The didn't measure her this week (which I was disappointed in). They said they would measure her next week. The reasoning behind that I was told is that if they measure every week, the weight could vary only a slight bit and they don't want to scare the parents to be. The lady said that the sonogram measurements can be off a few ounces, so it's pointless to do it every week. They did measure the fluid around the baby, heart rate, etc. and everything looks great. She didn't really move around very much, so I don't really have anything exciting to tell you about.

I know she's growing, because my belly is definitely growing. Next week, I'll post what the progress is on her growth.

Thanks again for all the love and support.

More Baby News

"Good eats"
What would a shower be without punch?
Mom and Me (Mommy to Be)

When I say that this pregnancy has been easy and exciting, I am not even giving it justice. I know this is my first pregnancy, but it has been so much fun and easy as far as I can tell. Just to kind of keep everyone informed on what's going on with the pregnancy and the events leading up to it, I thought I'd post a little bit of information.

On Sunday, I was given another baby shower by some ladies in New Boston (hometown). It was crazy how many gifts we received and all of the people that came to the shower. The shower was held at my hometown church, so a lot of the ladies from the church were there. It is so sweet to see how small towns come together to support one of their own. We had cake, punch, cookies, cheese trays, etc. It was so much fun! Since Monday, I have written 65 thank you notes, and I'm still not done writing. Wow!!! We are so blessed to have such supportive family and friends!

Then, this Tuesday Jordan and I made the rounds with the doctors again. I know you all probably get tired of hearing about the doctors appointments as much as I get tired of going to them (except the perinatologist).

First we saw the perinatologist to get a sonogram. They said that she weighs 4 lbs. 4 oz. at this point (49% percentile). Her heart, lungs, ambilical cord, etc. looked great. Her heart rate was at 141. She was very active while on camera this time, so we got to see her open and close her mouth and put her fingers in her mouth. She had the hiccups at the time. It is truly amazing to get to see your child before she enters the world with technology. Afterwards, we went down the hallway to see the OB. Of course, she said pretty much the same thing that the perinatologist said. Jordan and I kind of think it's a waste of our time, but we do what we're told.

Last but not least, we went to the endocronologist to check on the diabetes. My A1C was 6.1, but the NP was still very excited about my blood sugars. We made some more adjustments. When I was researching pregnancy as a diabetic, I read that your insulin intake would be much more towards the end of the pregnancy but I never knew this much. I think I change my pump out every 2 - 2 1/2 days now compared to every 4. While I was there, the NP and the doc checked my thyroid because they said it looked inflamed. They recommended that I get blood work done on it in a month to see what might be going on. They really think it's most likely from the pregnancy but they want to make sure. I'll give you an update on that test next month.

So once again, we checked out okay with all of the docs. We get to go to the perinatologist every week here on out, so we'll get lots of pictures of her. I get to start doing the stress test also next week to see how I can handle the stress of pregnancy. So far so good.
